It’s probably fair to say that everybody connected with this site is well aware that energy depletion and environmental degradation are the defining issues of our time. Changes are coming to how we live on this planet, whether we want to change or not. If you accept that argument in any form what we have will interest you. Putting the arguments for the 'problems' case is done much better by more qualified people on other sites which we will point you to.

Economise, Localise and Produce. I first saw that mantra mentioned at the theoildrum.com. It's about Transition Culture — a practical approach that means working in the current world of depletions while forging new, or reviving older, methods of living with not so much consequence on our resource base and the environment. It’s also an effort to re-establish what we think we have lost: an intimate relationship with that mechanism that gives us life. A different philosophical wealth, if you like, opposed to material wealth as the only human aspiration. I invite you to look at what we are doing.
